RENTENVERSICHERUNGSVERTRÄGE ZWISCHEN DEUTSCHLAND UND AUSTRALIEN

Eine Anfrage und Antrag von Senator Lajovic im Senat am 20. September 1978, die Zustimmung der Regierung in Canberra zu erhalten, um ein gemeinsames Deutsch-Australisches Rentenabkommen zu unterzeichnen, war der Anfang des offiziellen Teils eines langjährigen Tauziehens um den nun seit 2003 gültigen Rentenvertrag zwischen Australien und Deutschland.

Bernhard Thümling † BVK, damals Sekretär der Die Bruecke, Karl Haarbaum und Frau I. Beinsen waren massgeblich an der Entstehung dieses Abkommens beteiligt. In Gesprächen der Die Bruecke mit der deutschen Botschaft und der australischen Regierung wurde dem Anliegen der deutschen Immigranten entsprechender Nachdruck verliehen.
Die Reibungspunkte waren im Wesentlichen die doppelte Besteuerung der Rente in Deutschland und in Australien, nebst der Amnesty für solche die den Erhalt einer deutschen Rente nicht den australischen Behoerden gemeldet hatten und nun der Unterlassung der Mitteilungspflicht geziehen wurden. Der damalige deutsche Minister Arndt empfand es als absurd, dass jemand der seine deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft abgelegt und australischer Bürger geworden war Ansprüche an eine deutsche staatliche Versicherung geltend machen koennte. Den australischen Behörden missfiel der Umstand, dass deutsche Einwanderer eine höhere Rente beziehen sollten als Rentner die in diesem Land geboren wurden. Es dauerte 25 Jahre, bis das nun gültige Abkommen endlich unterzeichnet wurde.

Heute hat jeder in Australien ansässige der jemals in Deutschland gearbeitet und damit gezwungenermassen einen seinem Gehalt entsprechenden Beitrag an die Deutsche Rentenversicherung gezahlt hat einen Anspruch auf Rente aus Deutschland. Eine Anfrage bei Centrelink in Australien ist Ihr erster Schritt, sollten Sie Fragen in Bezug auf Rechte bezüglich Ihrer Rentenansprüche in Deutschland haben.

Die Initiative der Die Bruecke war damals der Auslöser. Die damals nahezu 30,000 Mitglieder der deutschsprechenden Klubs in Australien und Neuseeland haben viel erreicht,

The devastating pictures and reports, shown on TV and in the papers, portray a reality reminiscent of the destruction in European cities during the Second World War. It is not difficult for any of us to imagine the despair of those who have lost or are still looking for relatives and friends and of those who are prevented from returning to what is left of their homes. It would seem to be appropriate, if Die Bruecke and individual German speaking clubs would make a donation, within their means, to recognize and to manifest our solidarity with our fellow Australian citizens.
The Red Cross will accept donations; alternatively Die Bruecke would be happy to pass on any donation received.

It’s another top placing for Austrian Airlines: readers of business travel magazine Business Traveller have once
again voted the airline into first place in the “Food & Drink” category. The Austrian airline also achieved an
outstanding second place in the overall evaluation of the region’s best airlines in the “Best Airline in Europe”
category, as well as second places for the level of service offered on board and on the ground, and for its cabin
comfort. Finally, Austrian was awarded a third place for its safety provisions.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Austrian Airlines Group, Alfred Ötsch, said the following about these
latest top marks: “We are happy that we have again succeeded in inspiring our customers with our culinary
range over the past year, as well as with the committed and charming service provided by our staff members on
the ground and in the air. This consistent customer orientation makes us unmistakable and unique by
